What’s Your Generator IQ?

When I started looking at generators the only thing I knew was that you aren’t supposed to run them inside.  Granted, this is a pretty important thing to know, but once I got beyond that, I realized there were a whole lot of other things.  For one, there are a lot more types of generators than I ever dreamed existed.

Ok, I did know that Eastern Tools & Equipment, or ETQ for short, is a pretty good brand, but there was a lot of other important information to digest before I found the one that was best for my needs.  This is why it’s important to realize things like ETQ gas generators are somewhat different from ETQ electric generators and that just because it’s an ETQ power generator, doesn’t mean that it’s exactly like an ETQ propane generator.  

Knowing that there are differences between gas, electric, and propane generators meant that I had to determine exactly what I needed.  When I went into the search, I thought that what I needed was not to sit in the dark, eating cold ravioli out of a can, and while that’s still true, there’s a lot more to it than that.

For example, it’s important to know what my basic power requirements are, what my budget is – although this site has free ground shipping so that makes a huge difference – what my uses would be, and what kind of generator my home will support.  It’s also important to know what regulations my state has regarding generators.  Not all online stores care about making sure their customers aren’t going to get a generator that’s wrong for their state.  This kind of thing matters.
